How To Nokia 8 64GB Back Up & Restore App Data, Contacts, and Media Files

Back Up App Data:
  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Backup & reset”
  5. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your Google account
  6. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Contacts:
  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the desired account you want to use for syncing
  4. Tick the “Contacts” check box
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored when you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
  1. Connect the Nokia 8 to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
  1. Connect the Nokia 8 to your PC via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder from which they originate
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port.
