
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try solving these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored on the app will be lost, such as user profiles, save files, high scores, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.
Open “Settings”
Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
Select the desired application
Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
If clearing the cache didn’t help, try “Clear data” > “OK” to confirm (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your device crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to similar results as a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
Turn the device OFF
Then press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
Once the phone vibrates, release “Power”
At the “hTC download menu” screen, release the volume key too
From the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Reboot to bootloader”
Press “Power” to confirm
At the “No command” screen, press and hold “Power” and “Volume Up” at the same time
Once in Android Recovery, release both buttons
In the Recovery menu, press “volume down” to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
Press “Power” to select the option
Once the cache is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” to confirm
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.
Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
In the “Power options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
At the “Reboot to safe mode” prompt, tap “Restart”
Once the phone finishes rebooting, a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
Next, open “Settings” and scroll to “Phone”
Tap “Apps” and access “Downloaded”
Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” to reboot the device as you would do normally.
