Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC to Use as Ringtones / Notifications:
- Use the USB cable to connect the Sony Xperia Z3 to your computer
- From the AutoPlay window that should appear on the computer, click to browse the phone's files and folders
- Access the phone's "Internal Storage" directory
- Go to the "Music" or "Notifications" folder
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired audio files are stored on the PC's hard drive
- Copy the files, and paste them in the "Music" and / or "Notifications" folder(s)
- When the process is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray
- Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
- It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone
Changing the Phone Ringtone:
- Tap "Apps" on the home screen
- Go to "Settings"
- Scroll to "Device" and tap "Sound"
- Tap "Phone ringtone" under "Ringtone & Vibration"
- Tap the "Music" icon located in the upper-right corner
- Navigate to and select the audio file you wish to set as your phone's ringtone
- Tap "Done"
Changing the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:
NOTE: You can't assign custom ringtones to contacts saved o the SIM card or the phone's internal memory
- Launch the "Phone" app
- Tap the "Contacts" tab located in the upper-left corner of the screen
- Select the contact you want to edit
- Tap the "Edit contact" icon located in the top-right area of the screen
- Scroll to and tap the "Ringtone" drop-down menu
- Tap the "Music" icon located in the top-right corner
- Select the audio file you wish to use and tap "Done"
Changing the Notification Sound:
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Swipe to "Device" and tap "Sound"
- Under "System", tap "Default notification sound"
- Newly added files (in the "Notifications" folder) should appear at the bottom of the list
- Select the desired notification sound and tap "Done".
